Write for us

Modern Cinema Journal welcomes clear, original contributions that help readers see cinema from a thoughtful new angle. We are interested in writers who can explain a film idea without assuming specialist knowledge or flattening a lively subject into a verdict.

What we welcome

Pitch essays about film history, genres, adaptation, screen language or considered viewing. A strong proposal has a focused question, a clear reason it matters to general readers and a distinct approach rather than a broad promise to cover cinema.

A useful pitch

Send a short outline through the Contact page. Include a working title, the central idea, the material or examples you would use and a few lines about your approach. Please identify any close connection that could affect how readers understand the piece.

Before sending

We look for original work with careful factual framing and a readable voice. Do not submit material that depends on unsupported claims, copied writing or private information. A pitch is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication.
