Modern Cinema Journal

Editorial policy

Modern Cinema Journal aims to make clear, considered writing about cinema. We distinguish interpretation from fact, take care with historical claims and welcome readers who flag errors or missing context.

Accuracy and context

Writers should check names, dates, film titles and other factual details against reliable sources appropriate to the subject. When a point is uncertain or disputed, we aim to say so rather than present one account as settled. Interpretations are presented as readings, not as facts about what every viewer must see.

Independence and partnerships

Editorial decisions are made separately from commercial arrangements. Any sponsored or partner material will be clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage or an editorial conclusion.

Corrections

If you spot a factual error, write through the Contact page and identify the article and detail. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, amend the text in a way that makes the correction clear to readers.

Images and illustrations

Images should be used with attention to their source and context. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, they will be identified as such and should not be mistaken for documentary images.
